KŠC "Don Bosco" celebrated the feast of its heavenly patron

The Catholic school centre "Don Bosco" in Žepče and the Salesian community there celebrated on January 31st the feast of their heavenly patron and apostle of the young St. John Bosco.

The centre of the celebration was the Eucharistic celebration in the parish church of St. Anthony of Padua in the presence of numerous guests, employees and students of the Centre and in the concelebration of about 20 priests led by the archbishop of Vrhbosna, Metropolitan Msgr. Tomo Vukšić.

At the beginning of the Holy Mass celebration, the head of the Salesian community in Žepče, rev. Mirko Barbarić, greeted those present, who pointed out that on that day, the faithful especially remember how Don Bosco set out on the road with young people and took care of them.

In his homily, Archbishop Vukšić said that the purpose of everything, both the Centre and the Holy Mass celebration, is to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Referring to the proclaimed gospel, he invited the believers to follow his message to convert and become like a little child on their way to eternity. "The child is the embodiment of a pure soul, harmlessness, embodies a high degree of humility and has great trust in those closest to him. This attitude of a child's soul should be adopted and lived by believers on their way to the Kingdom of Heaven, and one of the advocates on that way is St. John Bosco", said, among other things, the archbishop of Vrhbosna.

The liturgical singing was led by the choir of KŠC Don Bosco, and the Holy Mass celebration was broadcast by Radio Marija BiH.

Afterwards, a special academy was held in the large lobby of the Centre. KŠC Director, rev. Ivan Širić emphasized in his speech: "As Don Bosco's sons, we are called to stand firm with young people and help them in all the risks they are exposed to today."

During the academy, special awards were presented to employees who have worked at the Centre for 20 years. Also, by the decision of the judging panel, which consisted of professors from the Academy of Fine Arts from Široki Brijeg, the best art work that was chosen was made by the third-grade student of the General Gymnasium, Valentina Buljeta.

In addition to this celebration, numerous other appropriate events were held, among which the lecture on the crisis of fatherhood (January 26th) attended by OFM Serđo Ćavar and Marin Periš, and the celebration ended with an appropriate reception.

Let's remind, the Salesians arrived in Žepče in the summer of 1995, and the work of the Centre began in 1999.
