On Holy Thursday, April 18th, in Sarajevo’s cathedral of Sacred Heart, Last Supper mass was celebrated.
Eucharistic celebration was led by archbishop of Vrhbosna, cardinal Vinko Puljić, with concelebration of the Apostolic nuncio in BiH Msgr. Luigi Pezzuto, military bishop in BiH Msgr. Tomo Vukšić, auxiliary bishop of Vrhbosna Msgr. Pero Sudar, general vivar of the archdiocese Msgr. Luka Tunjić and about 20 priests. A great number of nuns, theologians and believers attended the Holy Mass as well.
In his introductory words, cardinal Puljić reminded the present that Holy Thursday is a birthday of foundation of the Eucharist and priest order. To all the priests he congratulated their day, and he invited the believers to pray so that the priests could fulfil their mission.
Commemorative sermon was said by nuncio Pezzuto, and the translation was read by bishop Vukšić.
Inspired by Jesus’ gesture of washing the feet of twelve apostles, archbishop Vinko, after homily, washed the feet of the parishioners of Sarajevo parishes.
After the communion and prayer for the Synod, the Holy Trinity was transferred in a procession to the lateral side of the cathedral, where the believers will come on Holy Friday and Holy Saturday to pray in silence.
The liturgical singing was animated by the Cathedral mixed choir Josip Stadler, and after the Mass, bowing in front of the Holy Trinity took place.
