In the church of St. Cyril and Methodius in Sarajevo, which is also used for the spiritual needs of the believers of the Military Ordinariate, on April 10th, was organised a spiritual renewal for the soldiers and other persons in the military service in Sarajevo and the surrounding military bases, after which the military bishop Msgr. Tomo Vukšić celebrated a holy Mass.
At the beginning, general vicar Msgr. Željko Čuturić greeted everybody, and dr. rev. Ilija Marković, based on the readings from the Gospel, offered a short examination of the conscience to those present.
“One of the most beautiful examinations of conscience is the examination of the Ten Commandments”, said rev. Ilija and based on these commands asked present soldiers a series of questions about the Ten Commandments of God.
After a short silence, a repentant act was made, and then the soldiers had the opportunity to approach the sacrament of reconciliation with the military bishop in BiH Msgr. Tomo Vukšić and 10 other priests among whom were the military chaplains rev. Ivo Jezidžić and rev. Josip Tadić.
After this, msgr. Vukšić led the holy Mass in concelebration with msgr. Čuturić, rev. Jezidžić and rev. Tadić, while rev. Marko Stanušić animated the singing.
Following the proclamation of God's word, bishop Vukšić sent a commemorative homily.
“To be holy before God, a call to constant good, is the fundamental mission of life of Christians. It is the only way and path for personal sanctification and the ability to transform society and the world we live in. We know that doing good in the path of personal sanctification often comes to obstructions in us because our intentions are crucified on the cross because of our weakness. That is why Christ offered many means of sanctification. One of these weapons is a call for personal conversion”, said Msgr. Vukšić, among other things, emphasizing that all Christians are called to perfection.
After the holy Mass for participants, there was a reception and socializing.
