Media Day in parish of Novo Sarajevo

On the last Sunday in September, when World Media Day is celebrated at the level of the Church in BiH, Holy Mass was celebrated at the Holy Trinity Church in Novo Sarajevo by rev. Josip Vajdner, editor in chief of Katolički tjednik.

In the opening address, the parish priest, rev. Marinko Filipović introduced a guest who was baptized in the church and announced that during the Mass he would present, among other things, the Catholic understanding of the importance of the means of social communication.

Citing a number of specific examples, the editor of Katolički tjednik referred to the fact that the Catholic Church nurtures its connection with the world of the mass media and warns that they should be used responsibly and critically.

“Every word, except for the sound and the letter, has its own spirit. From there, it is really important for everyone to think about what the media is 'nourishing'. In a special way, older people have a task to transfer this knowledge to younger people pointing them to every day’s socialising with the word of God and the Catholic press”, said rev. Vajdner.

At the end of the Mass, the parish priest mentioned that in this parish a children’s choir called Anđeli Presvetog Trojstva (Angels of the Holy Trinity) was established, which in the future would contribute to the celebration of the Holy Masses with their voices. He also encouraged believers to take Katolički tjednik and subscribe.
