The 34th session of the Commission for the Preparation of the Synod of the Archdiocese of Vrhbosna was held on November 20th at the premises of the Vrhbosna Ordinary in Sarajevo.
The meeting was attended by 12 members of the commission, including for the first time the new Vicar General of the Vrhbosna Archdiocese, Msgr. Slađan Ćosić, and was presided over by Archbishop of Vrhbosna cardinal Vinko Puljić.
Following the adoption of the agenda and reedings from the previous sitting, moderated by the Secretary-General of the Synod, dr. Marijo Bernadić, started discussing the beginning of work of expert synod groups.
Activities related to the drafting of a working document of the Synod (instrumentum laboris) were discussed.
As the leader of the religious-pedagogical group - headed by mr. Igor Žontar who left to be BiH's ambassador to the Vatican – OFM Nikica Vujica was appointed.
Given that none of the five groups (ecclesial-legal, pastoral, religious-pedagogical, liturgical and media) had meetings so far, it was agreed to do so during December so that they could draft a working document by February.
After discussing the necessity of appointing of a new secretary as soon as possible (assistant secretary-general) it was announced that the new session will be held on February 13th.
It is predicted that, upon completion of the work of the expert groups, the synod assemblies and drafting of documents be joined, and that the course of the First Synod of the Archdiocese of Vrhbosna be completed in 2020.
