On the day of St. Sylvester, on December 31st, a meeting of 20 candidates for the priesthood from the dioceses of Herzegovina was held at the Diocese’s Ordinary in Mostar.
First, the biblical thinking was held, led by the bishop of Mostar-Duvno and the apostolic manager of Trebinje-Mrkan, msgr. Ratko Perić. Then the seminarians and theologians had the opportunity to reflect on the theme of How does the Bible teach us to fight “the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the arrogance of life"? (1 Jn 2:16).
This was followed by the Eucharist in the chapel, led and preached by bishop Ratko.
At the conclusion of the sermon, the bishop divided the liturgical service of the lectureship to two theologians of the fourth year of study: Nikša Pavlović from Gradac parish and Sven Skender from Mostar Cathedral parish.
Then four theologians of the fifth course of study joined and received the service of the acolyte: Ivan Aničić from the cathedral parish and Branimir Bevanda from the parish of St. Matthew in Mostar, Vinko Nenadić from Herzegovina Vinjani and Tomislav Rajič.
In the third liturgical act, two theologians of the third course of study were admitted as candidates for the deaconate and presbytery of the Diocese of Mostar-Duvno: David Bebek of the parish of Šipovača-Vojnići and Mato Puljić of the cathedral parish.
After the Holy Mass there was a gathering and congratulations of the New Year.
The gathering is a kind of tradition because the candidates have been meeting at the same time since 1999.
