On Saturday, July 11th, in the church of St. Peter and Paul in Mostar, under Holy Mass at 6 pm, ten postulants put on the Franciscan habit and entered the novitiate of the Herzegovina’s Franciscan Province.
The Holy Mass celebration and the dressing ceremony were led by the Provincial, OFM Miljenko Šteko, and were attended by the Master of Postulans, OFM Iko Skoko; the Master of the Novices, OFM Stanko Mabić; the Guardian of the Mostar Monastery, OFM Danko Perutina and 45 other priests
The liturgical assistance was directed by OFM Marko Galić together with the novices, and the celebration of the Holy Mass was animated by the harmonious singing of the Franciscan theologians.
After the biblical readings and the proclaimed Gospel, Provincial Šteko delivered a sermon in which he said that many new things and ways of working appear on the market every day, and that people uncritically lie about it as if they have eternity on earth. “In this race for everything, we lose sight of the fact that life is too serious and too precious, and that we should not spend it on insignificant things. We only have one life. What we do with it here on earth will be crucial for all eternity (…) He who gives himself to God gives the most to God. I am sure that these young men who are standing in front of us, and asking me to clothe them with the robe of St. Francis, have already thought seriously about their lives many times so far. These thoughts and the grace of vocation, led them to decide to make their lives available to God in the Franciscan order in this community in Herzegovina”, said the preacher.
The novices will spend the novitiate in the monastery on Humac, 10 of them Alen Barać, Franjo Brbor, rev. Ante Kelava, Nikola Kolak, Ivan Lovrić, Filip Miloš, Antonio Nikolić, Antonio Ramljak, Marko Vukadin and Lucijan Zeljko.
