Monument to dead defenders revealed

On the occasion of the celebration of the Day of the 3rd Brigade of the Brigade of Rama and Uzdol, and of the Second Encounter of the Moved people of Uzdolje named “Ivandanski svitnjaci”, on June 23rd, an appropriate program was held at Uzdol that marked the suffering of the Croats in that area.

The program began with the Holy Mass led by the Archbishop of Vrhbosna cardinal Vinko Puljić, and then with the war flags there was a walk to the monument.

In the afternoon hours, there was a solemnly revelation of the monument that was built with the support of the Central State Office for Croats outside Croatia and the Government of the Republic of Croatia.

The memorial was blessed by cardinal Puljić, and was revealed by Zvonko Milas, of the Republic of Croatia, Dragan Čović, President of HNS, and Kazimir Zelenika, on behalf of the defenders of the 3rd Battalion.

It is a permanent memorial to the 134 dead defenders in the wider area of Uzdol, and their great and invaluable sacrifice they have given for the entire Rama area.

After the ceremony of blessing and the discovery of monument, many delegations laid wreaths and lit candles. Then followed a cultural-entertaining program.

Let us remind, Uzdol was named by the Archbishop of Vrhbosna in 2016. as a Place of special piety for victims of the Homeland War.
