Municipal council declared September 14th as day of remembrance of the victims of Uzdol

In the municipality Prozor-Rama, on the 23rd council held on January 31st, a proposition of Resolution to declare September 14th as day of remembrance of the victims of Uzdol, was accepted.

The vice-president of the Municipal Council, Pero Kovačević, on this occasion said: “Uzdol deserves every respect but also the support that is necessary. The Municipality of Prozor Rama is the one that supports materially the most Uzdol and the whole area. This is shown through different infrastructure projects, but also help with marking the day of Uzdol remembrance day. In this way, we want to once again pay tribute to the victims of Uzdol and all the innocent who died.”
Let us remind: the victims of Uzdol were massacred 25 years ago at five o'clock in the morning, just because they were Catholics and Croats. Of the 41 victims, there were 12 HVO soldiers who were defending the village and 29 civilians, most of whom were elderly, women and children. Neither the international courts nor the Court of BiH have so far punished the perpetrators of this crime.
Every year on September 14th, at the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, the families of the victims and other believers gather at Uzdol where they pray for the victims, but also for the perpetrators as the Lord Jesus Christ said to. The Cross of Uzdol today standing in front of the parish church has thus become not only a sign of suffering but also of Christian  forgiveness.
