On Assumption Day, the parish of Goranci celebrated its 150th anniversary


The parish of Goranci in the Mostar-Duvno diocese celebrated its heavenly patron saint, the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on August 15th. It also marked the 150th anniversary of the founding of the religious community.

The solemn Eucharist was led by the Bishop of Mostar and Duvno and the Apostolic Administrator of Trebinje and Mrkan, Msgr. Petar Palić, concelebrating with, among others, the Provincial of the Herzegovina Franciscan Province, OFM Miljenko Šteko, Guardian of the Franciscan Monastery of St. Peter and Paul in Mostar, OFM Danko Perutina and the parish priest of Goranci OFM Ivan Ivanda.

The Holy Mass was attended by several thousand believers.

The parish of Goranci was founded on April 27th 1871. It is one of the largest parishes in the Mostar-Duvno diocese. The natural border of the parish consists on the north side of the slopes of the mountain Čabulj, on the east side Đubrani (parish Potoci, Bijelo Polje), on the west side Bila - Misište and on the south Cim, Vihovići and Planinica.

It consists of the following places: Goranci, Bogodol, Raška Gora, Planinica, Sovići, Bila and Ladina.
