At the Kovačevina cemetery in the parish of St. Peter and Paul in Gornja Komušina, on All Souls’ Day, November 2nd, the bell was blessed.
The Holy Mass and the rite of blessing were led by the former parish priest Msgr. Ante Meštrović, Archdeacon of Fojnica and Rector of the Cathedral chapter of Vrhbosna. He was accompanied by a retired priest of the Vrhbosna Archdiocese, a native of Komušina, rev. Josip Pavlović.
After the greeting, Msgr. Meštrović blessed the bell with which was then rang by Mr. Ivan Ilić, one of the few who lives on the territory of the parish of Gornja Komušina, and actively helps the current pastor rev. Boris Salapić.
In the homily, Msgr. Meštrović emphasized the importance of All Souls' Day, saying that “it is nice that many from this area have not forgotten their dead and are happy to come and take care of cemeteries, pray for their loved ones and arrange their graves, cemeteries and chapels.”
Let us mention that the bell on this cemetery chapel, dedicated to St. George, was gotten after the partial renovation of the worship space. It weighs 35.4 kg and was cast at the foundry Grassmayer in 2018 in Innsbruck. It is a gift from the parishioners of Gornja Komušina who gravitate to the mentioned cemetery.
This is the only bell on the territory of the religious community because in the last war, the parish church of St. Peter and Paul was demolished and still not rebuilt.
