Pastoral Day of Priests of Herzegovina Dioceses

The regular annual pastoral day of priests in pastoral care in the Mostar-Duvno and Trebinje-Mrkan dioceses was held on March 30th at the Emmaus Spiritual and Educational Centre in Potoci near Mostar.

The meeting was organized by the Ordinariate in cooperation with the Theological-Catechetical Institute. Along with the Bishop of the Herzegovina dioceses, Msgr. Petar Palić, the meeting was attended by about 100 priests and four deacons. The central theme was the March of the Local Churches towards the General Synod on Synodality, and it was treated under theological and pastoral perspective.

Rev. Edvard Punda, professor of fundamental theology at the KBF in Split, presented the topic of the Synod - the true face of the Church and the synodal virtues of priests. Vicar General rev. Nikola Menalo spoke about the synodal walk in the Herzegovina dioceses.

Prior to the plenum, bishop Palić summed up the lectures of the lecturers and encouraged the priests to work hard to continue the synodal walk. A discussion followed, emphasizing the need for the permanent strengthening of the faithful in order to understand the synodal course of faith and life and its significance for the whole Church. The need to continue the synodal procession after the diocesan stage through communion, mission and action at all levels of the particular Church was especially emphasized.
