Patron in the sign of the sacrament of adult initiation

On the Sunday of the Good Shepherd, April 25th, the parish of St. Mark the Evangelist in Gradačac celebrated its patron saint.

Holy Mass was celebrated and led by the parish priest rev. Marko Hrskanović in concelebration with three other priests. Also, during the Holy Mass, the sacrament of baptism, Holy Communion and Confirmation was received by an adult who had been prepared by the parish priest for two years.

In the homily, rev. Marko, apart from the identity of a Christian, also spoke about the Sunday of the Good Shepherd. He said that Jesus Christ is the Good Shepherd who cares for all people, especially those who have gone astray, and that he seeks, finds and puts such people into his own hands. He also interpreted the three sacraments of initiation received by the catechumen.

Rev. Marko, in the end, gifted the New Testament to a new member of the faithful community and told him that “it should not be kept in a display case, but in the heart”.

We remind you that the parish of St. Mark the Evangelists in Gradačac is more than 130 years old, although there were Christians in its area during the Roman Empire. Today, the parish has about 200 believers.
