Patron of Jelaške Parish


The parish of Jelaške celebrated on Saturday, September 14th, its patron the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. The Holy Mass, with the participation of about 50 believers and the concelebration of three priests, was led by rev. Ljubo Zelenika, an educator in the boarding school at KŠC Sv. Josip in Sarajevo.

At the beginning of the Holy Mass, words of greetings to the gathered believers was said by the new parish priest of Jelaške, rev. Stjepan Didak to whom this is the first parish priest duty.

At the end of the Holy Mass the gathered believers approached the altar and gave homage to the cross by bowing and kissing, and the gathering of those present continued at the family table.

Jelaške parish is located in the area between the municipalities of Zavidovići and Olovo and is about 35 km away from both cities. It is one of the three parishes of the Archdiocese of Vrhbosna dedicated to the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. Before the war, there were more than 900 believers, while today this number is many times smaller as it has 135 permanent residents.
