Patron of the cathedral parish

On the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, on June 19th, the Cathedral Parish of the Heart of Jesus in Sarajevo celebrated its patron saint.

The central Eucharistic celebration was led by the Archbishop Coadjutor of Vrhbosna, Msgr. Tomo Vukšić, in the concelebration of the Archbishop of Vrhbosna cardinal Vinko Puljić and about 20 priests. At the beginning, those present were greeted by the parish priest and dean of the Sarajevo Deanery, OFM Mato Majić.

In his homily, the Archbishop Coadjutor emphasized that the worship of the Heart of Jesus is at the same time the expression "the process has already begun and the desire to convert our hearts."

“It is a different way of looking at people, looking at people with the very Heart of Jesus Christ”, said Msgr. Vukšić who then spoke about the “spiritual epidemic of heart disease” which is reflected in the lack of empathy towards others. He wished that “the Heavenly Physician would give us a cure to make our hearts according to His Heart.”

At the end of the Eucharist, devotion was held in front of the statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
