Daughters of God's love, who work in the monastery of St. Joseph in Banjski Brijeg in Sarajevo, in the evening of October 7th, in the church of Queen of St. Rosary, which is also a place of worship of The Blessed martyrs of Drina, celebrated the patron saint of their church - the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Rosary.
The Eucharist was led by the educator in the boarding school of the Catholic School Centre Sv. Josip in Sarajevo and the rector of this church, rev. Sandro Jurešić, in concelebration with, among others, the Secretary General of the BK BiH, Msgr. Ivo Tomašević and the parish priest in Dobrinja, OFM Danijel Rajić.
In the appropriate sermon, rev. Jurešić said that God, in his divine providence of salvation, chose the Blessed Virgin Mary to be the mother of the Son of God and that she always remained a humble servant of the Lord. Emphasizing that God chooses and calls people to the path of salvation, he encouraged those present to follow Mary in humble service and fulfilment of God’s will.
Speaking about the origin of the holiday, he reminded that it was a commemoration of the victory of the Christian fleet at Lepanto on October 7th 1571., which is attributed to the prayer of the rosary.
By the way, the church in Banjski Brijeg was dedicated on October 1st 1911., and it was designed by Josip pl. Vancaš. After the Second World War, the monastery was turned into a company for the production of orthopaedic aids, and the return of the building began in 1994.
In the church, in the central niche, there is a place of worship of Bl. Martyrs of Drina, and the painting of the blessed was made by the academic painter Anto Mamuša.
