Patron of the Church of St. Vincent

The Sisters of Charity, together with the believers, celebrated the feast of their founder and patron saint of the Church of St. Vincent in Sarajevo. The Holy Mass was celebrated on that occasion by the Archbishop Coadjutor of Vrhbosna Msgr. Tomo Vukšić.

Six priests were in concelebration with him, and about 20 nuns from various societies operating in the capital of BiH took part, led by the Provincial Head of the Sisters of Charity, sister Julijana Djaković.

In his homily, Archbishop Tomo first recalled some dates from the saint's life and pointed out that this saint still speaks and acts through his spiritual sons (Lazarist monks) and daughters (Sisters of Charity) who will turn 150 next year since they came to BiH. “In his concrete actions and thinking, St. Vincent was guided by Christocentric philanthropy with the intention and goal that he in himself, but also every Christian in himself, achieves a resemblance to Christ's humanity as a dynamic principle of missionary activity”, said, among other things, the Archbishop.

At the end of the Holy Mass, words of thanks and welcome on behalf of the sisters and the rector of the church of St. Vincent, venerable Mladen Kalfić, were said by rev. Josip Vajdner, editor in chief of Katolički tjednik, who celebrates the Eucharist on weekdays in this community.
