Feast of St. Martin, the heavenly patron of the Mato Lučić Maturica chapel and barracks in Kiseljak, where the 2nd Infantry Battalion of the 5th Infantry Brigade of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina is located, was solemnly celebrated on November 10th.
The commemoration of the patron began with the laying of wreaths and the lighting of candles in front of the monument to Brigadier Mato Lučić Maturica of the Croatian Defence Council, and with a prayer for the dead and fallen veterans at the memorial.
Holy Mass was then held in the chapel of St. Martin and was led by the manager of the Split religious community of Our Lady of Fatima, rev. Ivan Zovko. About 10 priests from the Kreševo and Sutjeska deaneries and military chaplains, as well as the general vicar of the Military Ordinariate in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Msgr. Željko Čuturić concelebrated. Those present were greeted at the beginning by the military chaplain and parish priest in Haljinići, rev. Ljubo Zelenika.
The liturgical celebration was animated by the choir of St. Martin under the guidance of member of the OS BiH Veronika Matošević.
Let us remind you that the barracks in Kiseljak are named after Mata Lučić Maturica, who made a great contribution to the organization of the defence of Central Bosnia and the organization of HVO units. He was killed in May 1993 in the action of reconnaissance and formation of battlefield lines.
