Patron of the most numerous parish of the Vrhbosna Archdiocese

On Friday, April 23rd, the believers from Vitez, solemnly marked the memorial of St. George the Martyr, the heavenly protector of this, in the Vrhbosna Archdiocese, most numerous parish.

The festive Holy Mass, with the concelebration of the parish priest OFM Velimir Bavrka, the guardian of Guča Gora OFM Drago Pranješ and a dozen other priests from the parishes of the Lašva Valley, was led by the parish vicar from Nova Bila, OFM Pero Vrebac.

In his homily, he spoke about the life of St. George, reminding that he had become a Christian and, after the death of his father and mother, distributed his property to the poor. He then referred to the corona virus, noting that various pandemics have taken millions of lives throughout history.

“We wonder if we feel that cry in our souls: ‘God, where are you in this crisis and in the crisis throughout history?’ The God we believe in is not the creator of evil, but of the good, and what we experience comes from our sins. Dear believers, God never left us, but sent us his son who gave us eternal life through the Resurrection”, said the preacher.

This community of believers of 10 000 souls prepared for the celebration of the patron saint with a Triduum.
