Orašje, as the only parish in the Vrhbosna Archdiocese that celebrates Bl. Alojzije Stepinac as its protector, celebrated its patron saint on February 10th.
The Eucharist was led by OFM Bruno Ćubela, professor at the Franciscan Theology in Sarajevo. About 30 priests concelebrated, among whom was the parish priest, OFM Bono Kovačević.
In his homily, OFM Bruno referred, among other things, to the time of the coronavirus pandemic, unhealed war wounds and natural disasters that triggered a new wave of emigration. “The temptations of today are not much different from everything that has happened throughout the history of mankind”, he said, emphasizing that “we need to look to the values shown by Bl. Alojzije Stepinac, a great man, bishop, priest and humanist”. “Inspired by his example, we witness our faith every day. By living in this way, we certainly remain on the right path to achieve the true meaning of our lives”, said OFM Bruno.
Holy Mass celebration was animated by the choir Adoro under the direction of prof. Marija Nedić.
By the way, the parish in Orašje, founded in 2006, was preparing for the celebration of the patron saint with a triduum, during which Holy Masses were led by a professor at the Franciscan Classical Gymnasium in Visoko, OFM Zvonko Miličić.
