Parish of St. Leopold Mandić in Briješće, in Sarajevo, celebrated its patron saint on May 12th. Due to the "coronavirus", five Holy Masses were celebrated, and the central Holy Mass celebration was led by Msgr. Slađan Ćosić, Vicar General of the Vrhbosna Archdiocese.
Respecting the guidelines on suppressing the spread of the pandemic, about 20 believers participated in the central Holy Mass and nine priests concelebrated and a deacon served. Present, among whom were the Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul and the Franciscan school sisters, were greeted at the beginning by the parish priest rev. Josip Vajdner, editor in chief of Katolički tjednik.
During the Holy Mass, which was broadcasted live on Radio Marija, the theologian Tomislav Rajič played and sang.
Due to the current situation, there was no traditional folk celebration and socialising after the Eucharist.
In addition to the central Holy Mass, other ones were celebrated at: 8:00 am (led by the Chancellor of the Vrhbosna Archdiocese, rev. Mladen Kalfić), 9:00 am (economist of the Vrhbosna Archdiocese, rev. Vladimir Pranjić), 10:00 am (pastoral associate at NCM Ivan Pavao II rev. Damjan Soldo) and at 18:00 (Director of KŠC in Zenica rev. Vlatko Rosić).
Let us mention that the parish of St. Leopold Mandić in Briješće, is the smallest Catholic community in the city of Sarajevo, which currently has 232 members in just under 100 households. It was founded in 1984. by separating from the parish of Stup, and just before the last war it had about 900 believers.
