Priestly ordination of deacons of the Franciscan Province

Under the evening Holy Mass in the parish and monastery church of St. Peter and Paul in Mostar on June 30th, Auxiliary Bishop of Banja Luka Msgr. Marko Semren ordained Herzegovinian Franciscans as priests: OFM Zlatko Ćorić, OFM Renato Galić, OFM Stipe Rotim and OFM Lovro Šimić.

Along with the bishop, the Provincial of the Herzegovina’s Franciscan Province of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, OFM Miljenko Šteko, guardian of the monastery of St. Peter and Paul, OFM Danko Perutina, parish priests of the parishes of the newly ordained priests and about 50 other priests.

After the candidates for the order of presbyters were presented, Bishop Marko invited them in his homily to be close to Jesus. “Dear brothers, when temptation seems to exceed your strength, remember what the evangelist says about Jesus: ‘And when he was in the in death torment, he prayed more earnestly’, and you, like an apostle in a stormy sea call: ‘Lord, save us, we will die!’”, said Msgr. Semren.

After the homily, the bishop gave the sacrament of the Holy Order of Presbyterate to the candidates by laying his hands and consecration prayer.

In the end, the guardian Perutina thanked everyone and invited them to a fraternal gathering in the cloister of the Franciscan monastery.
