Remembering the fall of Bosanska Posavina


The Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Homeland War in Bosanska Posavina gathered this year, on October 6th, numerous people of Posavina on the day of the 27th anniversary of the fall of Bosanski Brod and majority of Bosanska Posavina.

Organized by the Association of Volunteers and Veterans of the 101st Bosanski Brod Brigade of Slavonski Brod and the Coordination of Associations that come from the Homeland war of Brod-Posavina county, the first part of the program began in the morning in Bosanska Posavina to visit the memorials and local cemeteries in Bosanski Brod and surrounding villages.

Holy Mass was celebrated in the parish church of St. Elijah the Prophet in Bosanski Brod and was led by the pastor parish priest rev. Antonio Čutura.

The second part of the program was held in Slavonski Brod by laying wreaths and lighting candles at memorials to fallen and missing veterans, and then a roundtable themed Remembrance of the Victims of the Homeland War in Bosanska Posavina was held at the City Library.

In the evening, 500 candles were lit on the promenade along the Sava river in memory of 2,000 dead and 5,000 wounded.
