Outdoor celebration of the feast of St. Mark the Evangelist gathered about 400 believers on April 24th in the parish and monastery of the same name on Plehan in Bosanska Posavina.
The solemn Holy Mass was led by the parish priest in the religious community of the Heart of Mary in Foča near Derventa, OFM Franjo Dalibor Stjepanović. Among others, the parish priest and guardian, OFM Ante Tomas, and the chancellor of the Vrhbosna Archdiocese and the administrator of the parishes of Novo Selo and Kulina, rev. Mladen Kalfić concelebrated.
In his homily, OFM Franjo Dalibor, while actualizing the Holy Mass readings, explained that Christians are called to preach the Word of God by witnessing to it with their lives. “Our mission is to make all people disciples of Christ. In order to do this, we must be at the source of our strength (…), and that is Jesus”, said the preacher, invoking the intercession of St. Mark.
The liturgy was animated by the choir Sv. Mala Terezija from the parish of the Birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Kutjevo, led by prof. Pilo Miškić.
The religious and cultural event Days of St. Mark the Evangelist began on April 22nd with a Holy Mass led by guardian Tomas. Then the book Josip Dobroslav Božić – Izabrana djela, prepared by Marko Matolić, was presented.
The next day, a sales exhibition for the construction of the Plehan monastery was opened, at which 18 paintings created at the art colony in Plehan and Donja Tramošnica were presented.
