Second patron of the parish in Gornje Močile-Sijekovac

Memorial Day of St. Anthony the Great was officially celebrated on January 17th in the parish of St. Anthony of Padua in Gornje Močile-Sijekovac in Bosanska Posavina.

The spiritual program began with a prayer at the chapel of this saint led by permanent deacon rev. Robert Čabraja. Then followed a procession in which, followed by the prayer of the Rosary, the saint's statue was carried by Dragan Jelinić.

The Holy Mass was led by the parish vicar in Veljaci in Herzegovina, OFM Branimir Musa. With the parish priest, rev. Ivan Tolj, eight other priests concelebrated, among whom was the dean of the Dobor deanery and the parish priest in Odžak, rev. Ilija Orkić.

Clarifying who the saints are, OFM Branimir emphasized in his homily that these are people with humble hearts who bear witness to the works of God; to whom God's commandment is law; who know that there is no holiness without God. As an example, he gave St. Anthony the monk and then continued to talk about his life. In the end, he encouraged the faithful not to forget Posavina and prayer.

The celebration was animated by singing of the singer-songwriter of spiritual songs, Luka Balvan.

At the end, parish priest Tolj announced the beginning of the construction of the centre in the parish, where the Cenacolo community will operate. In this sense, he thanked all the donors.

Let's mention that parishioners prepared for this day with a Triduum, which also included cultural events.
