Silver jubilee of the Franciscan Mary’s Missionaries

The nuns of the Franciscan Mary’s Missionaries (FMM) celebrated on November 6th, with a Holy Mass, led by the Archbishop of Vrhbosna, Msgr. Tomo Vukšić, 25 years of activity in Odžak and Bosanska Posavina.

Several priests concelebrated, including the parish priest and the dean of Dobor, rev. Ilija Orkić.

The church was filled with many believers who came to thank the sisters for everything they do in that area. For this occasion, they were joined by FMM members from Austria, Hungary and Slovenia, as well as the Missionaries of Love from Banja Luka and several other sisters from other places.

After the Holy Mass, the gathering continued in the hall of Arena Milenijum in Odžak, where there was a joint lunch for about 300 guests, prepared by the parishioners. In addition to the Catholics, there was also a group of about 50 Muslims, mostly from the women’s communities Sumeja and House of Hope.

The gathering was addressed, among others, by sister Cirila Koršič from the first set of sisters who came to Odžak in 1997 and settled with the help of the parish priest, rev. Nikola Pranjić, and on behalf of the provincial of the FMM, sister Elzbieta Humel. By the way, three sisters are currently working in Odžak: sister Agnieszka, sister Ania and sister Ela.

The FFM sisters were founded in India in 1877 by the French nun Bl. Mary of the Passion of Christ. The association was born from the missionary needs of the Church, and its goal is evangelization through prayer and apostolate. Today there are about 7 000 sisters from 82 nations on all continents in 77 countries.
