The day after the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, on August 16th, in the parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Trebinja, the 60th anniversary of the consecration of Our Lady's Church in Navijali was celebrated.
Also, the same day marked the 400th anniversary of the consecration of the church which was done by the Bishop of Trebinje and Mrkanj, Krizostom Antić, in 1620.
The Holy Mass was led by the Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Mostar-Duvno and Trebinje-Mrkanj, Msgr. Ratko Perić, and concelebrated, among others, by the parish administrator rev. Bernard Marijanović.
The bishop first said a prayer in the parish church as a memorial to the consecration six decades ago, and then the procession of believers, with the singing of the Litany of All Saints, marched with the cross and the statue of St. Roch (Rocco) to Bara, about 10 minutes’ walk, where a Eucharistic celebration was held in front of the church.
In his homily, the Bishop spoke about the virtuous, suffering and pilgrimage life of St. Roch, the protector of patients, especially those with plague, and even today's coronavirus patients.
The Eucharistic celebration was animated by the parish choir.
By the way, the church in Trebinje was built in 1938. and dedicated on August 16th 1960.
