Six new priests ordained in Mostar

On Thursday, on the feast of the apostles St. Peter and Paul, June 29th, at a solemn Holy Mass celebration at 11 a.m., Bishop Petar Palić ordained six new priests in Mostar's Cathedral of Mary Mother of the Church.

Five priests were ordained for the Franciscan Province of Herzegovina: OFM Ivan Crnogorac, OFM Fran Ćorić, OFM Marin Mikulić, OFM Slaven Tomić and OFM Alojzije Slavko Anđelić and one for the Mostar-Duvno Diocese – rev. Zvonimir Rezo.

Alongside Bishop Petar in the concelebration was the apostolic visitor with a special role for the parish of Međugorje, Archbishop Aldo Cavalli, vicar general of the dioceses of Herzegovina, rev. Nikola Menalo, provincial of the Franciscan Province of Herzegovina, OFM Jozo Grbeš, and numerous priests and monks.

As reported by CNAK, a large number of relatives and friends of ordained, as well as theologians and seminarians, postulants and nuns also gathered.

The Vicar General called out the candidates who then said their words together: "Here I am!" to God and the Church.

This was followed by the bishop's sermon, in which he addressed the ordained, but also all the priests who commemorate their ordination on this day.

"The life you will accept is not easy or without struggle, because you are called to live a religious or priestly vocation in a secular world that has little time or respect for God. Moreover, you are called to live a selfless life in a selfish world. There will be difficult tasks, difficult decisions, difficult people, long days and sleepless nights. Nevertheless, God and the Church believe in you. Know that God has called you to embrace this life and service", said, among others, Bishop Palić.

The sermon was followed by the ordination ceremony.

The ceremony ended with a blessing and a song by the cathedral choir Marija under the direction of rev. Dragan Filipović, accompanied by organist Luka Cvitanović
