Sixth Meeting of Deaneries of BiH

The Sixth Meeting of Deaneries of BiH was held on May 9th in the premises of the Archdiocese Seminary “Petar Barbarić” in Travnik.

The meeting was chaired by Archbishop of Vrhbosna cardinal Vinko Puljić, president of the BK BiH, and five out of six members of the BK BiH participated, as well as Franciscan provincials and General Vicars from Sarajevo and Mostar, and Diocese’s vicar from Banja Luka, members of the Clergy Council of BK BiH and 24 out of 28 deans in total from four dioceses in BiH.

The participants were informed that on Sunday of Solidarity in BiH on March 24th, 170,325.17 KM was gathered in total, and that these funds will be divided into 94 parishes with less than 200 parishioners in all dioceses in BiH.

During the discussion, it was noted that there was no significant association between the individual deaneries and it was agreed that deans with their fellow priests in their deaneries would come to terms with concrete actions for association between individual deaneries.

As a part of the Missionary Year, the participants listened to the appropriate lectures of a missionary that is in African countries of Rwanda, Uganda and Kenya, OFM Pere Vrebac, a member of the Franciscan Province of Bosna Srebrena, about missionary work of the Church on awareness of clergy  and people in BiH on missions.

During the discussion it was concluded that numerous priests with their parish communities as well as a large number of monks and nuns, get involved in various missionary actions and work to strengthen missionary awareness and support missions and missionaries with their prayers and concrete help. The meeting ended with a solemn Eucharistic celebration in the seminary church of St. Aloysius Gonzaga with the participation of many pilgrims who prayed beside the grave of the God’s servant Petar Barbarić. The diocesan bishops also had an opportunity to meet with the seminarians of their dioceses.
