Solemnly celebrated Transfiguration of the Lord

The only parish in the Vrhbosna Archdiocese - Borovica, located between Vareš and Kraljeva Sutjeska, which has the Transfiguration of the Lord as its head, solemnly celebrated its patron saint on August 6th.

Holy Mass was led by the Head of the Public Relations Office and the Spokesman of the Vrhbosna Archdiocese, rev. Dražen Kustura, in concelebration with 17 priests, among whom were the Dean of the Sutjeska Deanery, rev. Pero Brkić and the host parish priest, rev. Vlado Vrebac. Despite the coronavirus pandemic, about 200 believers were present, some of whom wore the folk costume of the area.

In the appropriate sermon, rev. Kustura asserted that there was always a desire in man for the imperishable, the eternal, the sublime, and that in the event of the transfiguration, Jesus showed his three chosen disciples at least briefly the glory of heaven, in the presence of the two greatest Old Testament figures: Moses – the symbol of the law and Elijah – representative of all the prophets.

At the end, the parish priest thanked those present and shared information about the projects done in the past period and announced the celebration of 100 years since the founding of the parish in 2022.

The Holy Mass celebration was animated by “tamburica” players from Vareš.
