Spiritual exercises for priests

Spiritual exercises for priests were held from February 20th to 24th in the monastery and parish of St. Mark the Evangelist at Plehan in Bosanska Posavina.

The leader was a professor of the Franciscan Classical Gymnasium in Visoko, an educator of seminarians and a missionary of charity, OFM Josip Ikić. 20 priests gathered, including 13 Franciscans of the Plehan District, led by the Guardian OFM Ante Thomas.

OFM Josip based his reflections on a biblical verse: “And he established the twelve to be with him, and to send them out to preach, and to cast out devils with authority” (Mark 3: 14-15), and he processed all three main themes: prayer, penance and mercy (love).

On February 23rd, the priests also visited the Greek Catholic parish in Derventa and helped this small community with financial donations. They also prayed in the local Catholic church of St. George, and in the Plehan cemetery they prayed the prayer for the dead over the graves of the buried Franciscans.

The spiritual exercises, ending with Holy Mass and Te Deum, were an opportunity for those present to be spiritually refreshed and enriched and to meet each other.
