In the premises of the Archdiocesan Centre for Youth Pastoral Ivan Pavao II. (NCM), spiritual renewal and professional development of religious teachers of the Vrhbosna Archdiocese and the Banja Luka Diocese was held in Sarajevo from October 2nd to 4th.
The topic of the meeting was the Role of Religious Teachers in the Revitalization of Parish Communities - Perspectives and Opportunities, and it was opened and addressed by the Archbishop of Vrhbosna cardinal Vinko Puljić.
Afterwards, gathered religious teachers together with the head of the Catechetical Office of the Vrhbosna Archdiocese and the director of the Catechetical Office of the BK BiH, Dr. Rev. Tomislav Mlakić shared experiences and reflections related to work in the school and the parish, as well as possible engagements in the parish pastoral care and the wider community.
On the second day of the meeting, the participants first discussed the role of religious teachers during the pandemic and analysed the work done so far in distance learning. Also, the issue of religious textbooks and current programs were discussed.
A spiritual renewal followed which was led by the Salesian rev. Mihovil Kurkut. He analysed the current moment and the problems faced by all Christians, and thus religious teachers. On the example of St. John the Baptist he offered a pattern of religious teaching in the current time.
After the spiritual speech and confession, a Holy Mass was celebrated, led by rev. Mihovil, in concelebration with the pastoral associate of the NCM, rev. Damjan Sold.
On Sunday, October 4th, the staff of the Ivan Pavao II. Centre, presented their work and the projects they organize and offered cooperation and assistance to religious teachers.
The meeting ended with the Eucharist, which was also led by rev. Mihovil, in concelebration with the director of the NCM Ivana Pavao II. Dr. rev. Šimo Maršić.
