Spiritual Renewal for Defenders of Bosanska Posavina

The Lent spiritual renewal for all defenders of Bosanska Posavina was led by the military chaplain in Vinkovci OFM Mato Vincetić, on Sunday, March 31st, in the parish of St. Mark in Plehan in Bosanska Posavina.

A spiritual program, attended by 50 former soldiers and members of the families of the killed soldiers, defenders of Bos. Posavina, began with a worship service in which OFM Mato pointed to the importance of the sacrament of reconciliation, after which there was an opportunity for the sacrament of confession.

The peak of the spiritual program was the Eucharistic celebration, led by chaplain Vincetić with the concelebration of the vicar pastor and guardian OFM Ante Tomas, parish vicar OFM Franjo Dalibor Stjepanović and OFM Zlatko Matanović.

The present were welcomed by the guardian of the monastery, OFM Anto, who pointed out that this event was organized in agreement with the Military Bishop in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Msgr. Tomo Vušić.

After the Mass, the present went to a local cemetery where the Franciscans of the District of Plehan were buried, and the wreaths were laid at the memorial chapel and lanterns for all the dead and missing members of the HVO were lit.

Let us remind that around 25,000 HVO members took part in the defence of their homes in Bosanska Posavina, and nearly 3,500 were killed and disappeared. The prayer for them was led by the chaplain Vincetić.

After joint lunch, Marijan Arlović, president of the Association- the organizer, thanked the leader and hosts with special gifts, and chaplain Vincetić gave a lecture on the topic of: Faith as a meaningful answer to today's life’s paths.
