Spiritual renewal for the believers of the Sarajevo parishes

Spiritual renewal for adults was held on the fourth Sunday of Lent on March 31st at the Provincial Headquarters of the Franciscan School Sisters in Bjelave in Sarajevo.

This spiritual program for the faithful of the city of Sarajevo was enabled by the sisters of the Franciscan Province of Bosnia and Croatia. There were about 30 participants from the cathedral parish of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Sarajevo and the surrounding parishes, and the spiritual renewal was led by rev. Jakov Kajinić, a spiritual leader in the Vrhbosna Diocesan Seminary in Sarajevo, together with the Sisters of the Provincial House in Bjelave.

The meeting began with a song and welcoming words of the Provincial sister president Kata Karadža. Then there was a commemorative meditation: Closeness of the gentleness of the Gospel text about the merciful father and his “protesting” sons (Lk 15, 11-32).

Afterward, rev. Kajinić gave an exegesis interpretation of this fragment and an actualisation for time and life. In his exposition, he emphasized that the biblical image is above all an inspiration for better acquaintance of the Father's endless love, goodness, and forgiveness.

Personal reflections, thanksgiving and wishes were given in Eucharistic adoration in front of the Exposed Sacred Altar Sacrament, and participants attended the sacrament of confessions and then the Holy Mass was celebrated.

Throughout their Jubilee Year, the Society of Franciscan School Sisters of Christ the King will organize in many of their communities special sacred devotions.

This is why the Provincial sister President has appealed to the Holy Father for a gift of forgiveness. The gift of forgiveness, as stated in the Apostolic court, is allowed to be celebrated in the Year of Jubilees under the usual conditions for all believers who truly repent and driven by love want to receive complete forgiveness every time when they, as pilgrims, visit one of the Sister Chapels of the Congregation.
