On January 8th, in Sarajevo Cathedral, a memorial day was held for the first Archbishop of Vrhbosna, servant of God Dr. Josip Stadler.
For the Rosary prayer in the spirit of the Christmas mystery, as well as at the Eucharistic celebration in the evening, the sisters Servants of the Little Jesus gathered from the communities operating in Sarajevo, as well as the children from Stadler's children's home Egypt, the community of the Vrhbosna Seminary in Sarajevo with their educators and other religious communities and faithful people of God, reports the KTA.
The Mass celebration was led by rev. Josip Knežević, rector of the Vrhbosna Theology Seminary in Sarajevo, with vice-rector rev. Ilija Marković and rev. Mate Majić, the cathedral parish priest.
In the introductory part, venerable Majić emphasized that the intention of the Mass is for proclaiming the Blessed Servant of God Josip Stadler and for the sisters Servants of Little Jesus, and thanked venerable Knežević who leads the worship.
Venerable Knežević in his sermon shortly highlighted two important words of Stadler's administration of the Vrhbosna Archdiocese, and they are: do and teach, words that are completely based on the work of Jesus Christ himself. Stadler did and taught, and like Jesus, he had compassion, compassion for the oppressed people, and was a true Shepherd, emphasized Knežević.
“We pray for intercession of God’s servant Josip Stadler, that we always have good, responsible, capable shepherds, priests and bishops in the Church and our people”, said in the end Knežević. After communion prayer, all gathered in the Sarajevo Cathedral, prayed at the grave of Archbishop Stadler for their own needs and intentions, as well as the intention to proclaim blessed Archbishop Stadler. The Mass readings were animated by the Sisters SMI, and with their singing and playing the celebration was animated by the theologians from VBS.
