Thanksgiving Holy Mass on the last day of 2021.

On the last day of the calendar year 2021, the Archbishop of Vrhbosna, cardinal Vinko Puljić led a Holy Mass of Thanksgiving in the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Sarajevo.

Concelebrating together with the Cardinal were: the Archbishop Coadjutor of Vrhbosna, Tomo Vukšić, Charge d'Affaires of the Apostolic Nunciature in BiH, Msgr. Amaury Medina Blanco along with six other priests.

Introducing the Holy Mass, Archbishop Vinko encouraged those present to “wake up in their hearts a sincere gratitude to God for the gifts received during 2021.”

Appropriate sermon was delivered by Msgr. Vukšić, who mentioned that many people are preparing to celebrate the end of one period on the last evening of the year. In the wake of this, he recalled the announced words from the Holy Mass readings in which it is noted that the time has come for conversion and the beginning of a better life. He then spoke about St. Sylvester whose memory was celebrated that day, who took over the papal office in 314, and whose pontificate marked the end of one and the beginning of another time when Christians were given freedom.

At the end of the Eucharist, those present sang the hymn of thanks Tebe Boga hvalimo (We praise you God).

The celebration of the Holy Mass, which was broadcast live by Radio Marija BiH, was animated by the Cathedral Mixed Choir Josip Stadler under the direction of rev. Marko Stanušić.
