On Sunday, May 19th, the Holy Spirit parish in Nova Bila celebrated its patron saint and the 50th anniversary of its establishment.
On that occasion, the Holy Mass celebration in the church yard, full of believers, was led by the Archbishop of Vrhbosna, Metropolitan Msgr. Tomo Vukšić in the concelebration of 15 priests, among whom was the parish priest OFM Mogomir Kikić.
In the appropriate sermon, Msgr. Vukšić spoke about "two happy circumstances" that gathered many believers at the Holy Mass - the celebration of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit feast, and the Church's birthday, and the patron saint and the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the existence of this religious community.
Interpreting the Feast of Pentecost, the archbishop pointed out that with it the Church remembers the special blessing of the Christian's escape from captivity to the laws of this world and the rules of their own bodies to a better world and life with the rules of the Kingdom of Heaven.
"That is the purpose of today's Pentecost and thanks to the Most Holy Trinity for the descent of the Holy Spirit, we thank God for all our lives because it is only through that Spirit that we are disciples of Jesus and, thanks to Him, His community is alive and forming", said Archbishop Tomo, explaining that everything good and beautiful that happens in the community of Jesus' believers, in the lives and consciences of believers, it happens thanks to the Spirit of God. "Every holy act takes place by invoking the Holy Spirit, every sacrament, every Holy Mass and God-pleasing deed takes place by invoking the blessing of the Holy Spirit", he explained.
He further spoke about the basis of Jesus' message, which is "peace to you". Explaining that it is most often not the form of peace that believers are used to, he emphasized that it is "peace with yourself, with your own conscience, which exists when there is no one around you, only you and your God", and how with that peace, The peace of Jesus from which grows peace with other people and all God's creatures begins.
Referring to the anniversary that is being celebrated, he emphasized that everything good that has happened in the past 50 years in this community is the result of the work of the Spirit of God. "Today we remember the difficult times, the people who cried out for God's help from this place, the medical staff who did everything to help and our veterans who, inspired by the Spirit of God, were for the benefit of human lives, harmony and building justice in human society" , said Msgr. Vukšić concluding: "May the dear God bestow the blessing of the Spirit of God so that we who are on this side of life can benefit ourselves, our brothers and sisters and our salvation, and grant those who are on the other side of life, in a better life, the joy of heaven and may reward them for every good deed."
At the end of the Holy Mass, OFM Mogomir, parish priest, thanked God and congratulated the parishioners on the patron saint and the anniversary. He expressed his thanks to the priests who did the sacrament of Confession and led the novena and to those who worked on decorating the church and materially helped celebrate the anniversary.
"You have given yourself to this parish for 50 years, and today the parish is trying to repay you symbolically", he said, inviting those present to a joint meal.
The Holy Mass celebration was animated by the parish choir under the direction of prof. Josip Popović.
