The bishop and the nuncio served the liturgy

On the occasion of the beginning of the Great Lent, on March 5th, in the Greek Catholic parish church of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Prnjavor, the bishop of Križevci, Msgr. Milan Stipić and the Apostolic Nuncio in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Archbishop Francis Assisi Chullikatt, served the Divine Liturgy of St. Basil the Great.

Together with them were the parish priest Father Orel Zakaljuk and the priests of the Greek Catholic Vicariate of the Diocese of Križevci in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Msgr. Chullikatt preached on the theme of the gospel that describes Jesus' meeting with the disciples Philip and Nathanael. He then explained how man inevitably faces difficulties in life and how "growing in faith is not always easy". In the wake of this, he referred to the war in Ukraine and encouraged the believers, concluding that in the end victory over death and evil belongs to God.

The liturgical singing was animated by local singers and the choir of the Križevci Cathedral.

Then there was a social gathering, which was joined by the priests of the Serbian Orthodox Church as well as the imam of the Islamic community in Prnjavor.

It is worth mentioning that the Greek Catholic Vicariate consists of ten parishes, and the faithful are Ukrainians by nationality, descendants of immigrants from Galicia during the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy.
