Central Holy Mass on the patron saint of the parish of St. Leopold Mandić, on May 12th, in the Sarajevo settlement of Briješće was led by the Archbishop of Vrhbosna, cardinal Vinko Puljić. 12 priests concelebrated, and words of greeting were given by the parish priest rev. Josip Vajdner.
In the appropriate sermon, Archbishop Vinko reminded of the most important biographical data from the life of St. Leopold Mandić and emphasized that the saint’s mercy manifested through the sacrament of confession, referring to his ecumenical efforts.
In the second part of the homily, he told an instructive story, ie an “interview” that a journalist conducted with a dear God, and emphasized the elements that can be useful to today's man.
At the end of the Holy Mass, the Cardinal blessed two new stained glass windows (St. Mother Teresa and the Holy Eucharist), the work of Zdenko Jurišić, performed by the company Staklorad from Tolisa, which were recently installed, thus completing the process of restoring the windows in the parish church.
The Eucharist, which was broadcasted live by Radio Marija, was animated by members of the parish choir.
About 30 believers participated, including the President of the Federation of BiH, Marinko Čavara.
Also, in the parish of Briješće, Holy Mass was celebrated in the afternoon, and it was led by rev. Dražen Kustura, Head of the Public Relations Office of the Vrhbosna Archdiocese. Four priests concelebrated and about 70 believers participated, and members of the youth choir from the parishes of Stup and Briješće sang.
