The feast of St. Francis

On October 4th, the parish of Guča Gora near Travnik solemnly celebrated its heavenly patron St. Francis.

On that occasion, the Holy Mass was led by the Visitator General of Bosna Srebrena, OFM Božo Vuleta. About 30 priests concelebrated, among whom were the Provincial of the Franciscan Province of Bosna Srebrena, OFM Jozo Marinčić, and the pastor and guardian, OFM Drago Pranješ.

In the mosaic sermon, OFM Božo spoke about St. Francis and his life’s journey, with special reference to conversion. He noted that many people throughout history, not only Christians but also great enemies of Christ, have said only positive things about this saint. Telling about the time before the conversion of St. Francis, he emphasized his merchant family, the young man’s desire to become a knight, and the wounding that led to a turning point in his life. He also touched on the fact that many believers spend a large part of their lives trying to control their existence, while real life and its simplicity, which characterizes St. Francis, misses them.

Guča Gora Parish and Monastery of St. Francis celebrated their heavenly patron this year as well in the presence of thousands of believers and pilgrims from Central Bosnia and all parts of BiH. After the Holy Mass, there was a gathering of those present.
