The feast of the Name of Mary in Svilaj

On September 12th, the parish of Svilaj celebrated its patron - the Feast of the Name of Mary, and the Holy mass was led by rev. Mato Bošnjak, a Dominican from Zagreb, who was born here.

There were about 15 priests that concelebrated with him among which parish priest OFM Mladen Jozić, the Guardian from Plehan OFM Anto Tomas, and parish priest in Odžak and the Dean of Dobor Deanery venerable Jakov Filipović.

In a commemorative homily, rev. Mato recalled that Christians call on Mary's name because they believe and know that Mary wants and is happy to help. “She is indeed the Assistant of Christians; she is sad to see her children wander, so she implores the Holy Spirit for all her children to return to her Son. If we want to be Christians, we should always stand on the side of righteousness, not the powerful. Let us never stop exploring what the will of God is in our lives, and when we discover it, we do it the way St. Joseph did”, are some of rev. Mate's messages.

The Eucharistic celebration was animated by the parish choir led by sister Anna Alberti.
