The meeting of the diocesan priests in the sign of the witnesses of faith

The Travnik seminary Petar Barbarić on September 19th hosted the 23rd meeting of the diocesan priests of the Vrhbosna Archdiocese. The theme of the meeting, which consisted of the Holy Mass and the working part, was Witnesses of Faith with an emphasis on the Vrhbosna Archdiocese.

Before the Mass, which was led by the Archbishop of Vrhbosna Vinko cardinal Puljić together with about 70 priests, rector of the Seminary venerable Željko Marić informed the attendees that this educational institution will permanently have sacramentals of blessed Miroslav Bulešić. Words of the Bishop of Poreč and Pula Msgr. Dražen Kutleša, were read by the postulator of the cause for proclaiming Bl. Bulešić a saint, venerable Ilija Jakovljević, an Istrian priest born in Podmilačje parish.

Archbishop Vinko based his homily on three words: Eucharist, enthusiasm and love. He first pointed to the "drought of spiritual vocation" which also appeared in the Vrhbosna Diocese, which is seen in a small number of seminarians. “What will attract the most new priestly vocations is our sacred attitude to the Eucharist. We can not only ‘do’ the Mass but, in the first place, celebrate with dignity and then live like that too. Nothing else can draw young people to the priesthood like a priest who joyfully lives his vocation”, said the cardinal.

After the Mass, the working part of the meeting was held in the seminary hall, and it consisted of two parts: exhibitions on the subject of martyrdom and then reports from some institutions of the Vrhbosna Archdiocese. The first lecturer was Dr. Msgr. Pavo Jurišić, who exhibited on the subject of the Martyrs' Church. After that Rev. Pero Brajko, who built his lecture on archival material, lectured about Bishop, priests, monks and nuns, theologians and seminarians witnesses of faith during the Second World War 1941 - '45 and 1945 - '90.
