Members of the First Synod of the Vrhbosna Archdiocese adopted the Final Document of the Synod on Saturday, November 20th, in the hall of the Priests’ Home in Sarajevo.
Out of 134 eligible members, 95 took part in the first part of the voting, and 93 in the second, who approved the document by an absolute majority, prepared by five expert groups: ecclesiastical-legal, pastoral, religious-pedagogical, liturgical and media.
The meeting, like the previous five, began with the prayer of the Third Hour, which this time was led by the treasurer of the Vrhbosna Archdiocese rev. Vladimir Pranjić, after which those present were greeted by the Archbishop of Vrhbosna cardinal Vinko Puljić, President of the Synod.
In his speech, he pointed out that in the renewal of the archdiocese, in accordance with the motto To renew everything in Christ, love should always prevail. “Only love can renew, the love that is ready to sacrifice, just as Christ brought us salvation through the cross. In order to renew this local Church in a common process, we must first love this Church”, said cardinal Puljić and called on those present “to find their place in the mission”. “If we want to renew everything in Christ, we must adopt the views of Jesus”, he said, adding that the Final Document was of advisory importance and that the bishops would decide whether it would become a binding program for the entire archdiocese.
This time, the Working Presidency consisted of: Vicar General of the VN, Msgr. Slađan Ćosić, Secretary General of the Synod, Rev. Mario Bernadić and the leader of the religious-pedagogical expert group, OFM Stipo Alandžak.
The meeting was moderated by members of the Counting Commission: Chancellor of the VN rev. Mladen Kalfić, president, and members rev. Pranjić and Mr. Slaven Jurešić.
Before the voting, each of the leaders of the expert groups presented in five minutes the modifications that had been made with regard to the interventions that had arrived. Then, the members of the Assembly first commented on the thematic units within individual areas and then voted for individual chapters and finally a complete document. Thus, the Final Document was adopted, which, in addition to the introduction, consists of five chapters and a total of 234 issues.
Let us remind you that the First Synod of the Vrhbosna Archdiocese will be solemnly concluded with a Eucharistic celebration in the Sarajevo Cathedral on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, December 8th 2021, at 10:30 a.m.
