On Friday, August 28th, in the parish of the Ascension of the Lord in Novi Travnik, a solemn reception was held for members of the Society of the Sisters of the Merciful Jesus from Poland, who began their activities in this parish of the Lašva Valley.
On that occasion, the solemn Eucharistic celebration was led by the Vicar General of the Vrhbosna Archdiocese, Msgr. Slađan Ćosić, in concelebration with about 10 priests, among whom were the Dean of the Travnik Deanery, rev. Marko Mikić and the host parish priest, rev. Marko Majstorović. It was the two of them at the beginning of the Holy Mass who expressed words of welcome to the sisters. Parish priest Marko, on whose idea the sisters founded the monastery in Novi Travnik, welcoming the two nuns who will work in this central Bosnian parish, said: “In this time of hopelessness, maybe even confusion, especially because a lot of people are immigrating, arrival of the sisters will surely be an encouragement that they are not alone, that the Church thinks of them and that there is someone who wants to comfort, encourage and lead them to God. They also brought with them the powers of St. Faustine and Bl. Michael which will be kept in their chapel, and we will honour them at a certain time. That is the goal of this devotion - for people to open their hearts and for their trust in the Lord to grow. We want to tell the sisters that we are with them and that we will be helpful so that they can live here and work for the glory of God.”

In the sermon, Msgr. Ćosić first expressed his gratitude to God for this event, and welcomed the sisters to the Vrhbosna Archdiocese and the Lašva region. “Let, therefore, the first testimony of your action be a living testimony of fidelity to Jesus, a testimony of devotion to religious life. (...) The testimony of a pure, humble and holy life has its own special charm and without words conquers others for Christ. In everything you do and say, do not seek yourself or your glory, but proclaim Christ crucified and risen and thus win others to the true and real God”, said, among other things, the Vicar General of the Vrhbosna Archdiocese.
After the communion prayer, the young people of the parish welcomed the sisters in the hope that the life and work of the sisters would lead to new priestly and religious vocations, and handed them a bouquet of flowers. Members of the Croatian Women's Association from Novi Travnik also greeted the sisters of the Merciful Jesus with the traditional Travnik sweets and the book Kuharica.
On the same day in the morning, nuns from Poland met with the Archbishop of Vrhbosna, cardinal Vinko Puljić and Archbishop Coadjutor Msgr. Tomo Vukšić in Sarajevo. In addition to expressing their welcome, the archbishops also introduced them to the archdiocese in which they began to operate and especially the area where they founded the monastery.
The sisters from Poland decided to open their house ad experimentum for 3 years in the area of Novi Travnik, and two nuns will initially work there: sister Teresa Jadwigau Kwiatkowska and sister Anna Wyrostek.
