The smallest parish in Sarajevo celebrated its patron saint

The religious community in Briješće, under the heavenly protection of St. Leopold Mandić, on May 12th, celebrated the patron saint. The Holy Mass was led by the Provincial of Bosna Srebrena, OFM Zdravko Dadić, in concelebration of 20 priests, among whom was the parish priest, rev. Josip Vajdner.

In an appropriate sermon, the provincial spoke about the "apostle of the confessional" who, based on his own experience of the sacrament of reconciliation, decided to be the one who would reconcile people with God and others. As OFM Zdravko explained, this marked his life, even though he wanted to work on ecumenism. He then pointed to Leopold's virtue of accepting the will of God and his encouragement of people to the sacrament of reconciliation as an encounter with God. "Where the worldly and the spiritual are balanced; where faith and trust in God are present; beautiful and great things happen there", explained OFM Zdravko, who after the communion prayed the votive prayer of St. Leopold in front of the saint's relics.

In his thank you speech, rev. Vajdner mentioned that the parish of Briješće, which has 195 souls, will celebrate 40 years of its existence next year, and encouraged prayer togetherness. The liturgical singing was animated by sister Angela Zirdum, FDC. Let's also mention that the Holy Mass was celebrated in the afternoon by the Chancellor of the Vrhbosna Archdiocese, rev. Mladen Kalfić.
