On the occasion of the third anniversary of the celebration of votive Holy Masses, at which worshipers pray for the restoration of the parish community and of the entire Bosnian Posavina, about 150 believers from Koraće participated on February 15th at a Holy Mass, at the Church of the Assumption of the BVM, and which was led by Msgr. Marko Semren, Auxiliary bishop of Banja Luka, with the concelebration of the parish priest OFM Ivan Marić, and six priests from the surrounding parishes.
In his homily, the bishop warned that the covenant must not be “trading with God”, with the Mother of God or some saint, but always trusting in God or some saint to help us.
“In intercessory prayer one does not only pray for some ‘physical’ good, but also prays for the gift of ‘common sense’, for a good decision, and the believer goes so far as to pray for those who do him harm, as did St. Stephen, the first martyr of the Church, praying for his murderers. Christian intercessory knows no boundaries”, said the bishop, among other things.
A special gift - local specialties - was given to the bishop on behalf of the parish by the members of the HKUD Tamburica Korače, Željko Krijan and Jelena Barišić.
The celebration was animated by the singing of sister Ivanka Darojković from Slavonski Brod.
The pleasant socializing continued with a joint dinner on this votive day on the premises of the parish.
