Emanuel Josić a professor at Franciscan Theology, delivered an appropriate sermon on the Third Lent Friday, March 13th at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Sarajevo.
The Rector of the Cathedral, Msgr. Ante Meštrović recalled that the central theme of Lent sermons was the apostolic letter Aperuit illis, by which Pope Francis decreed that the Third Sunday throughout the year should be dedicated to the glorification, reflection and spread of the word of God.
OFM Emanuel pondered the theme Bible is the book of the Lord's people, pointing out that “the Bible was created out of life and for many years, born out of a personal encounter between God and the people or God and individuals”. “It recorded experience of these encounters and the messages that came from them”, he said. He encouraged those present that, like the famous biblical persons, they never give up and boldly go in the way of the Christ and the gospel.
Before the Holy Mass, the piety of the Way of the Cross was led by the Parish priest of the cathedral and the dean of the Sarajevo Dean's Office, venerable Mato Majić.
