Sixteenth Homeland Prayer day of the Archdiocese of Vrhbosna and Fourteenth Pilgrimage to Bobovac of the Catholics who are members of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed forces, was held on October 21st.
Eucharistic celebration on Bobovac, located in the area of parish Kraljeva Sutjeska, was preceded by the Archbishop of Vrhbosna, Vinko cardinal Puljić in communion with Msgr. Tomo Vukšić, Military Bishop of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Msgr. Jure Bogdan, Military Bishop of the Republic of Croatia, together with 40 other priests.
Homeland Prayer Day began with the traditional gathering of pilgrims at the river Bukovica underneath of Bobovac, after which all gathered, led by soldiers carrying the flags of the Vatican, Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Croatian component of the Armed Forces of BiH, made their way to the remains of several kilometers far fortress.
Msgr. Vukšić, the priests and soldiers, the faithful, and the pilgrims prayed along the way.
After the arrival, but before the beginning of the Eucharistic celebration, the Military Ordinary of BiH, Msgr. Vukšić welcomed the Archbishop of Vrhbosna and present political representatives.
The Military Ordinary reminded that on Bobovac, with Holy mass, peace and prosperity of the Homeland is prayed for.
He stressed that the faithful of the Vrhbosna Archdiocese have traditionally been joined by the soldiers of the Armed forces of BiH and policemen of different levels. He greeted Slovenian and Austrian military legates and priests who came together with Croats-Catholics to celebrate Holy mass in Bobovac.
"Peace is accomplished in different ways, and one of them is prayer. May God bless all peacemakers," the Military Ordinary said.
In his homily, the Archbishop of Vrhbosna pointed out that he prayed for what he values and loves. "We came here to emphasize that we do not want to forget the roots. One is where I was born, and the other one, where I grew up. Sometimes it is the same, but in the case of Jesus it was not. Born in Bethlehem and raised in Nazareth. However, firstly he preached in his homeland", the Archbishop said in the beginning, urging the audience to love their homeland.
He noted that in the documents, besides the name of people, stands the place of birth and that is what people can not change.
Then he talked about the dangers of forgetting ones roots. "This is fueled up by the media and the modern digital time that often imposes complexes on us" the Archbishop said, pointing out that one should value their ancestors who were tortured and died for their homeland.
He encouraged the present to never be ashamed of their identity and where they came from.
During the holy mass the prayer of the faithful was prayed by members of the Armed Forces, police officers and Ministry officials.
At the end of the Eucharistic celebration, the Archbishop of Vrhbosna led the prayer for the homeland.
Parish choir from Vareš sang during the Holy mass.
After the Mass, for all those present, at the river Bukovica, underneath of Bobovac, military beans were handed out. Another Homeland Prayer Day ended with a pleasant after prayer gathering.
As the Cardinal emphasized, the believers came to Bobovac to show respect for their history, but also to show that they have faith in the future. On their own land.
