XXV Priest’s convocation of Vrhbosna archdiocese

XXV Priest’s convocation of Vrhbosna archdiocese that was held on Monday, April 29th 2019., in the Priest’s home of Vrhbosna archdiocese, started with the Eucharist celebration in the church of St. Cyril and Methodius led by the archbishop of Vrhbosna, cardinal Vinko Puljić with concelebration of the auxiliary bishop of Vrhbosna dr. Pero Sudar and other priests and theologians.

At the beginning of the Holy mass, Cardinal Vinko greeted all the priests and welcomed them, pointing out that their participation in this annual meeting is in line with the need for priestly communion and exchange of thinking and the need for continuing education. In this endeavour he called for the intercession of St. Catherine of Siena, the first woman declared as the Church's teacher, and many thought of her as a mystic and saint with a remarkably accentuated love for Christ and the Church.

In addition, cardinal Vinko also recalled that St. Catherine always prayed for her homeland, and he also told us that in the time in which some people’s love towards their birthplace is burning out, we need to pray for our country, for our Church, for our Croatian people.

After the Mass, the working part of the meeting was held in the hall of the Priest’s home of the Vrhbosna Archdiocese, and was moderated by the General Vicar of the Vrhbosna Archdiocese, msgr. Luka Tunjić. At the beginning of the lecture, OFM Slavko Topić, professor of Franciscan Theology in Sarajevo, spoke of the third Apostolic Exhortation of pope Francis under the title Gaudete et exsultate (Rejoice and be glad), published on April 9th 2018., under the subtitle On the Call for Holiness in today’s world.

Within the working part of the convocation, reports of individual church institutions were considered and adopted. And after the common prayer, the gathering was continued during a common meal in the Vrhbosna seminary.
