Holy Mass for killed friars and civilians

In the church of St. Peter and Paul in Mostar on February 14th, Holy Mass was celebrated in memory of the killed friars and believers of Mostar and the surrounding area who were victims of World War II, and the last war.

The Eucharist was led by OFM Danko Perutin, together with the provincial of Herzegovina OFM Miljenko Štek, General Vicar of the Dioceses of Herzegovina rev Željko Majić, the vice postulator of the killed Franciscan Friars, OFM Miljenko Stojić and another 20 priests. Members of FRAMA, before the beginning of the Mass, read text from OFM Ante Marić  and named seven friars who were taken by partisans out of the monastery, killed and threw into Neretva.

In his sermon, the Guardian spoke of the sufferings of Christians. "In the two millennia of the existence of Christianity for the sake of faith, 70 million people were killed. But, of the total number of those killed, ‘45 million, which is about 65%, are martyrs of the 20th century’, says Antonio Socci, an Italian journalist, in his book War against Jesus, confirming the words of Pope Francis who has repeatedly said that ‘today there are more martyrs than in the first centuries", OFM Danko stated, among other things, in his sermon.

The parish choir sang at this Mass celebration.

In the afternoon of the same day, the friars from the monastery in Mostar, together with the postulants, went near the Neretva river to light candles and pray for the killed brothers.
